cycled to folkies for new strings on sunny saturday of mayday weekend
Modern warfare 2: An action packed game filled with high-octane moments and big explosions. This all looks good on paper but that’s all you’re getting when you buy modern warfare 2 (aside from multiplayer and special ops). The campaign takes approximately 6 hours to complete and that’s all there is, of course there’s always higher difficulties but they only add about another hour into the game and a few more achievements or trophies. I also felt a little cheated as I’d waited two years for the next modern warfare and the story was completed in a day. Campaign also didn’t have co-op online or off. This was also another annoyance as call of duty: world at war, the newest call of duty by treyarch, has online and offline campaign co-op.
To counter this they’ve brought in a new game type called special ops. The new gametype is fun, however world at war had a gametype called nazi zombies, which was insanely addictive and many people were expecting an alien terrorist mode, basically nazi zombies in modern day, but instead of this they came up with spec ops. Special ops is a fun addition to the game but, aside from one, all of the maps are the same from the campaign. It feels like you’re playing the same game over again but with a fun twist. This is slightly annoying though as some of the levels, especially the echo ones are very hard and when it feels like you’re playing the same thing over it can get boring, fast.
Now onto multiplayer, Modern warfare 2’s strong point. It had been hyped up an enormous amount and it sort of fell flat. The multiplayer is still addictive as ever but it just seems that some of the maps are built around camping, which isn’t very fun as you’re health is depleted quicker than the last game. The shotguns are also very powerful and the model 1887s even had to be nerfed as the range was too powerful, mix that with the camping and the game can tend to make you throw your controller across the room. The game also has it’s fair share of glitches, some not being fixed for months. There is also a tenth prestige hack, where people have hacked into the game so they unlock most of the titles and emblems, and they are also tenth prestige without having to go through the levels. This doesn’t really affect people playing the game but it would be slightly annoying if you managed to get to tenth prestige just by playing. However the multiplayer is exteremely fun, especially when you win, and very addictive. I would reccomend getting this game if you have the first modern warfare as it’s a great sequel and is also a great game. For people new to the franchise I would still reccomend it if you like first-person shooters. For everybody else don’t buy it as you will probably either love the multiplayer or hate it, hate the campaign and spec ops. And that would be a waste of forty pounds. Overall I think this game is great and I give it 4 out of 5.
Karl Landsteiner died on this day 1943. He discovered the ABO blood group system, finally making successful blood transfusions possible, thereby saving countless lives. He also made one of the first breakthroughs in defeating polio when he discovered the disease was caused by a virus. He made breakthroughs in immunology, finding ways to boost the body’s production of antibodies, and at the age of 70 he announced the discovery of the rhesus factor, thus helping prevent potentially fatal medical complications in 1 in 200 Caucasian babies. He suffered a heart attack, pipette in hand, whilst working at his laboratory bench. He was 76.
Still, it’s not like he entertained millions.
